I was thinking about Sun/moon and it load screen between the map and the battles take a while to load……then it hit me.
The reason why there is nothing in this open areas is purely because of lag. In other games you tend to load battles on the same layer as the map to cut down on load time…not Pokemon. They have to load up an entirely new screen each time you come in contact with a Pokemon (for easily lazy layering).
O_O How bad it this going to lag when you have multiple people on one map entreating load zones?!
The game already struggles to load Pokemon onto the field; the distance pop up in the demo was very distracting.
In order for this to work on any level game-freak will have to start programming the moves with the models, not just simply layering one move on every model during the fight.
*This need explaining: The move activates the file in the load zones, because each model in the same locations you can simply layer it based on the perimeter, Its basically an inadvisable box that sets all the models to the same size (saves on programming time). what you really want is for the move to be layered with the model. Pokemon model are currently pointless during battles far as programming is concerned (you may as well just have two squares there)*
This will allow battle to take place on the open fields (no more battle load zones). isn’t this what Pokemon was striving for with the sun/moon layout, a battle in a 3d open space that doesn’t take you out of the game world?
It makes me wonder if there going to pull this sprat loading screen nonsense for Pokemon refresh (if they add it). Just let me have the Pokemon I want on field, pan the camera to the model, and let me pet it!
*This is what happens when you make too many models and have too many short cuts, it will eventually bite you in the butt.*
You can still do short cuts, the animation for a breath attack doesn’t need to change and most status attacks can still use the one file. You just need to make sure the model is using the power from the correct locations for its body type.
It’s the way I can see this working for the size of there team is that they start from Generation 1 and add the rest as DLC packs, or a new generation game (like a starter pack). *You only want a particular gen, buy that game.*
I would rather have BETTER ANIMATIONS then this outdated mess this game is currently in.
*I would buy a ‘switch lite’ just to play a huge Pokemon game.*
It sounds like game-freak need to hire less designers and more programmers/animators.
The towns looks amazing, the game play doesn’t.
I want to talk about this from the side of someone who like games.
Do I think the graphics look good? no, it looks really bad at times.
The shadows seemed to have a mind of there own.
Even when the girl leaves the house (15-17sec) the shadow on the ground looks like it’s having seizure.
Plus you have to love that poor Photoshop background during fights.
How could we leave out the beauty of the trees.
If it wasn’t for the detail of the charterers models, I could easily confuse this for a ps2/ xbox 360 game.
The only section that looked good was when they were doing the rotation shot.
This definitely feels like they just tweaked the 3ds engine.
I hope that a lot of these things are just stand-ins and will be fixed in the final product.
I’ve done it! I went though every Pokemon and created 7 charts.
I have lot of people bring up this topic, but they don’t really go that deep into why that’s the best/worst.
*What are ‘kind of’ designs? These are debatable Pokemon (they are not bad, but there not good).*
From this chart we can see that the fall in design quality actually started in started in Sinnoh.
My final findings were:
Unova, Kalos, Alola: They didn’t fail because they were bad, they failed because they played it too safe.
Johto surprising almost fell into this category; if it wasn’t for the table scraps of Kanto this entire region could of been a disaster.
What are your thoughts on this Data?
I have seen this happen way too often now!
Stop comparing your game to X/Y, you should be comparing to sun/moon!
Here are all the Pokemon from ultra sun/moon, they are the same as ‘let’s go’!
Sun/moon has the capability to put out HD!
Y_Y Be fare to a game engine that couldn’t push itself due to its hardware.
I’m sorry to tell you this, but ‘let’s go’ is running on sun/moon engine.
*Like every other remake game-freak has put out over the year.*
O_O I love seeing it run at full power, but don’t make up stuff just to make the game look better.
*This is why I wasn’t visually impressed by ‘let’s go’.*
The problem with Pokemon games (my problems with ‘let’s go’).
XD I have a lot of frustrations with this game series.
^-o That dead line actually motivated me to reach my goal (I wanted to double my word count). one can easily loose focus when trying to compile all there thoughts into one document.
^-^ Think I’m getting close to doing the final draft!
Hope someone will want to read it when i’m done.
Additional: Going to be taking a weeks brake from this project (the next sections that I will be tackling is going to be a pain).
This project is moving slowly, I need to keep up my motivation in order to complete it. It’s hard to come up with ways to describe curtain topics at times.
I have had to go on long walks some days in-order to ponder over how to write it down.
^-o To make my life much easier I added a contents page.
Guess I could update (anyone who is interested) this blog on my progress every 2 weeks (might make me work faster).
Name of document: The problem with Pokemon games.
let it be known that I have a problem with ‘lets go’ and I have no problem writing a book about it.
I wanted to get down all my thoughts on the game.
XD My word count is currently at 1500 (I’m not even near done yet).
Dose anyone have any suggestions towards topics (around this game) I should look at?
*This has to be the biggest post I have ever done for this blog. *
I’m finding that when I answer one question another turns up.
