Hello guys! Sorry there was no post yesterday (life complications).
^_o seeing as we are about to enter the new year I thought this would be the perfect time to tell the people who don’t look at my score page what my top/worst anime of 2014 where.
- As long as an anime ends in 2014 it can make the list.
- No season 2 or beyond
- I must be able to legally stream it in my region (^-o I’m uk friendly).
Additional: My final official list will most likely will be finished much latter into 2015 (I’m determined to finish noragami).
1. Nagi no asukara
This anime is about a bunch of sea children that come onto land because there school has been shut down. While on land they are preparing a sea doll that will be used in a ceremony that appeases the sea god and lets the humans and sea people live a harmonies life…. That would be the case if the two people liked each other.
This show was beautiful! You did get the annoying character in this show and you did over dramatic moments that really wouldn’t make sense in the context of the moment (just because a couple is having a moment of drama in one scene doesn’t automatically mean it will transition into the next).
Imagine you were making toast and someone randomly walks in talking like a dramatic Shakespearean actor (you would not keep a straight face).
*XD it’s my favorite staple of drama anime.*
This is the only anime that I have watched that made me want to see more (didn’t want it to end).
2. Log horizon
A bunch of gamers get stuck in a fully immersive online game and have to come up with a democracy in order to create laws that will help bring order thought-out the land.
Was I the only person going in this that expected something more of the lines of Maoyu than SAO? Maoyu was a wordy and oddly more obsessed with politics then the actual story of the show.
Compared to the onslaught of death game anime that have been coming out this was a breath of fresh air (you can’t die). If you’re not a fan of wordy anime don’t watch this.
3.Hozuki no reitetsu
This a comedy about Japanese hell….what ells do you need to know???
I really don’t like talking about comedy anime! Your entire enjoyment of this show rest of the fact if your enjoy dead pan humour.
^_^ For the most part the jokes are spot on and that’s all I ever wish for with a comedy anime.
I’m sorry this is sort but…..comedy ether makes you laugh or cringe.
You have a group of idol girls from a small company trying to make it big…..oh, any company that is big and makes money is evil.
I don’t like this anime! BUT….….I can’t say that this was poorly produce or paced. This anime was of a good quality, you could tell how much work and love went into writing the story , developing each character to have a realistic (for the most part) personalities and giving each girl a moment to shine.
I will always remember that last episode speech: “The victims of 911 would have felt a lot less sad if they had idol girls.” XD It comes out of nowhere and I can’t for the life of me figure out why.
6.The world is still beautiful
7.No game no life
9.Witch craft works
10.If her flag brakes
13.Nobunaga that fool
14.The fruit of grisaia
16.Chaika-the coffin princess
18.The pilot’s love song
20.Is this order a rabbit?
21.Brynhildr in the darkness
25.Momo kyun sword
26. soni-ani: super sonico the animation
27. Blade and soul
28. Bladedance of elementalers
29. magical warfare
O_O THIS SHOW! anyone who tries to tell me the animation in this show is good is begging for a punch in the nose! animation is more then frame rate and pretty imagery.
Look at this image and say the animators cared about the quality of this production?
You might be asking: what is this show about? I honestly couldn’t tell you.
There is a magical school and some kids have to be sent there because……the plot says so.
Are there bad guys? Answer: Kind of?
Are there good guys? Answer: Kind of?
You learn to dislike everyone in this show so there is no real reason to pick a side.
The plot and the story are all over the place with every little sense or coherency trying it bind it all together.
This is a paragraph from my anime log. The show had been using telaporting throughout its entire run and suddenly they randomly bring up this crystal (that no one had been using) to send you to specific places.
“It will teleport you to predetermined destination”……opposed to other forms of teleporting that just dump you in a random field??? *I could summon a gate sir, but we do run the risk of being attacked by cows.*
Thank you magical warfare for putting that image in my head.
If you’re going to watch magical warfare I recommend you “watch it”. There are just as many visual problem as there are verbal.
*I need to get my friend to watch this fully before I can properly review it (there is a good reason why i don’t do big reviews).*
30. z/x Ignition
Each time I look at this image it makes me think he is inside the stomach of a hentai monster.
what’s the plot to z/x Ignition? I DON’T KNOW!
Some people have smart phones that trap monsters the end….oh, there is also a harem randomly thorough in there.
Nothing is explained! You spend the entire show just looking at the screen begging for answers that never come.
31. La corda d’oro -blue sky-
What is this show about: A music school….that’s it!
There is a music contest that some people entire and the students seem to like it. *tumble weed*
T_T Do you want to know why this anime truly fails. It’s not the still frames and lazy arm movements to the music, it’s not even the extremely bland female lead that could be erased from that story with no repercussion.
This anime that was aimed and created to arouse ladies fantasies heavily lacks sexy men. You have the friend who spends his time complaining, that rose guy and the child hood enemy whose parents died in a car accident (there are some hot males there just for eye candy, but they never do anything with are female lead).
There is no reason to ever watch this anime.
T-o these charterers are so bland (some charterers don’t even have bio’s).
This anime dose have an interesting identity that many people strait up ruse to acknowledge just because of it similarities to another show. I am here to shock them fans who made that presumption because this anime is obsessed with politics and international relationships…..*cricket*T_T I said it was interesting not exciting.
The show did have many moments when it would drag on horrendously slow with very little visual stimuli (your soul slowly drifts from your body). The upside to all this is that the charterers have distinctive voices that keep your attention along with mature personalities (you can believe these are young adults…for the most part).
They always tried to tackle any problem in the game using real world logic, which means we were never subjected to idiotic game laws that constantly contradicted each other for the sake of looking cool or too drag the plot along. The show did have its fair share of problems BUT! Even though there were slow sections I still wanted to know: Are they going out? Will his plan work? Wonder what these characters are doing? Whenever we did get a slow portion in an episode it would be counterbalanced with a more interesting subplot (develop the A plot while keeping us entertained with the B plot).
Seeing as I know there is a season 2 coming soon I don’t have to be too angry with this very open ending….well, it’s not an open ending, but it might as well be.
p.s show’s that contain 24-25 episodes are a real pain when you’re using my viewing system (they take forever to complete).
Additional: Did anyone ells think that the last “bad guy” stood out too much compared to the other npc we have seen ?
O_O Must cuddle shiny bubble/orb creatures!
*I forgot to read the subs (I was distracted by the magic of bubbles with cute faces).*
T-o let’s get this out of the way: This show likes to talk too much! *on the upside we haven’t had a new game mechanic explained too us in ages.*
This anime can get really tedious during the long confiscation about the political relationship between the npc and adventure players. *You’re boring me anime, stop boring me!*
This show is a lot more enjoyable to watch when they are actually fighting, strategizing and worrying about the safety of their guilds. I have been a hundred times more interest in seeing what the new players have been doing (they have only been training these last couple of episodes).
These last 6 episodes have been a bit of a snooze feasts, however! Episode 18 has set us up for a big war event that is sure to be filled with sorrow and action.
Good luck log Horizon! I hope your show ends on a high note.
I never understood why young children were allowed to sign up to a game where you live chat with hundreds of grown adults (just seems like you’re asking for trouble). I also find it odd that we don’t really see any high leveled child players in this game? Are main character apparently leveled up to max without group help (makes you wonder why he was still playing the game).
This show consists of talking….and talking….explaining talking, if you can’t tell there is a lot of talking in this anime. You would think they balance out the talking with something visual interest but nope, we have sit down and listen to a group of people talking about world politics round a table (is there anything more exciting).
The show likes to dump out game moves and groups almost every episode, there no way of remembering it all without writing it down. ^-o thanks to the two new members of log Horizon we now have an excuse for the boat load of game exposition (The main character used to announce it every episode). He used to confuse me when he started talking about game mechanics because he talks as if he is directing it towards someone…in his head.
*I just realised that the guy covered in armour has a belly button….how and why?*
The show does have its fair amount of action/ daft moments, it’s only hindered by the fact that it won’t shut up (not every moment needs explaining).
The show has not attempted to explain how they have become trapped in this game; the sooner you accept that they will never elaborate on their saturation, the sooner you can enjoy the show.
^_o I know that I don’t usually bring up other reviews on my blog but, this particular one in neo magazine (issue 118) really rubbed me the wrong way.
It starts off ok and then he says something stupid:
“yup, log horizon treads the exceedingly well-worn path laid down by .hack, btoom!, sword art online and many more. Now, anime is an inspirationally incestuous industry at the best of times, and very few titles are truly original, but would it hurt the creators to at least try to do something slightly new with the formula? ” *wrote by anonymous*
1. I don’t know why he said “inspirationally incestuous industry”. (same goes for the “, and”). *I guess he must love a good incest anime.*
2. .hack, btooom! and sword art online are very different shows outside of being based on games.
- .hack: I only read 1 manga of .hack and could not follow it (so i don’t know what it’s about).
- btooom!: It’s based on a video game but, the story dose not take place in a video game.
- sword art online: popularized the death game genre.
Seeing as he used Btooom! and sword art online i’m going to guess he is referring the death game genre however, anyone who has watched Log Horizon knows…….YOU CAN’T DIE IN THIS GAME! This has to be what he is referring to because last time I checked there has not been a big boom in animes based in video games.
sorry for the long rant but, people like this get on my nerves.
- The show is still having long winded expiations of how its world works 6 episodes into the show.
- Having all of the main characters at level 90 takes away any sense of danger.
- The show makes its world feel very small by glancing over big chunks of the games world. e.g. “we will get there faster with are griffins” you just knocked out half of the game map.
- I enjoy watching the characters interact.
- Are main leads are all over 20 meaning that you can believe that helping out other gamers means a lot to them (Shiroe dose most of the moral worrying ). *A teenage gamer would not care (for the most part) that a young gamer is struggling to learn the gaming mechanics.*
- It’s nice to have characters that are not 12-16.
This show is about a bunch of people stuck in an online gamzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Sorry guys but this was honestly so boring that I actually became slightly angry when I realized It had only just hit the halfway point.
The game takes place in a game called Elder tale *cough, cough Elder scroll* and the player have to fight to survive…… well not really. They haven’t really stated that they have to get into fights, so you could just stay in the same place and wait till the game is fixed.
This anime just chucks you in the deep end and expects you to understand everything its talking about right from the get go however, the show dose never sets anything up in order for their saturation too mean anything.
How long have they been playing? What kind of people are the main characters? Do they have families? Why can’t they shut the game off from the other side?
I hope that this show set up a stable foundation in latter episodes or this show is going to be painful to watch.
